Playback problems with OS X
Hi!
I've got two problems with Cineform playback on OS X. I've installed the free Neo Player, but with QuickTime player, the 1440x1080 HDV .avi files (created with PC) play back in wrong aspect ratio (they play back in square pixel 1440x1080 mode). How can I play them back correctly in 16:9? Another problem is that the playback of Cineform files is jerky and drops frames when played in QT player. The inspector shows about 14 fps playback. What could cause this problem? The computer is a relatively new MBP so it's not a question of processor speed. Are there some alternative (free) media player softwares for OS X that could play Cineform files? Greetings, Sakari |

Those are faults with the quicktime player. While AVI knows it should be played at 16x9, QTPlayer doesn't read this info from the AVI -- 1920x1080 and 1280x720p AVI will not have this issue. If you wrap to MOV you might have more luck. RT playback on MBP should be okay, it is RT on an older Mac Book from CineForm MOVs. Neo HD can rewrap AVIs to MOVs.

Thanks David for answer! I have Prospect HD on my PC workstation, so I'll try to rewrap those .avi:s to .mov:s with it and then put them to my Mac laptop for on-the-go presentation purposes.
