HDLink Feature Request
This is really annoying and finally annoying enough to warrant a post (at least, in my mind). I'm constantly opening Prefs to change the output directory. Why don't you just put an output directory entry field on the main application? I don't change anything else in Prefs (I capture with HDVSplit when coming from tape, but usually record to a Firestore, so the base capture name doesn't really change often).
I've never understood why something that is as volatile as the output directory is in a prefs dialog.... Thanks, Matt |

I second the suggestion. Should be done in some other programs, too.

Absolutely.
When working on multiple projects it's too easy to output to the wrong folder because "forgot" to check the prefs dialog.

actually, every thing should be on opening page, so you won't forget settings

I change my vote... I want Chris's suggestion. Put it all on the front screen. There's no real need for a Prefs page.

I could handle it all being on the front page! Going to the prefs dialog is just a usability obstacle, in my opinion. Lay it ALL out there, so I won't be wondering why they heck my hiqh-quality CFHD is in folder X on drive Y instead of where I expected it to be! the software could really help us to not worry about those niggling little details!
Thanks, Matt |

HDLink, unfortunately, is long overdue for an overhaul. Originally intended only for HDV capture and conversion, it's clearly matured into something far more expansive and powerful.
I'm hoping to be able to give HDLink the makeover it deserves at some point later this year. At that time -- just like we did with First Light -- we'll take some user suggestions into creating the UI. Thanks for the comments!
