"First Light" for 4K versions only?
I read on the Cindeform site that "metadata" is accessible only in 4K versions of Prospect (Neo, too?).
Does this also apply to the new, yet-to-be-released, "First Light" stand-alone application? In other words, in what Cineform products (and versions) will the new "First Light" application be included? |

Press release next week, but for everybody on DVInfo, First Light will be included in all versions of Neo HD/4K and Prospect HD/4K. Windows first, but Mac not too far behind. Active Metadata works on ALL CineForm files types - 4:2:2, 4:4:4, RAW, and 3D (not yet announced).
An Alpha version will be available "soon", followed by a public beta. Like the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, the closer we get to the Alpha, the less certain we can give you an exact date.... :-) |

BTW, in v3 of Prospect we only supported Active Metadata in P4K, and then you could only modify AM inside PPro.
In v4 everything is different, the application (First Light) is outside PPro so it works with any NLE, compositor, etc, including on Mac. And we're moving it from "just" the 4K versions to the HD versions as well. It will not be included in Neo Scene, but those with Neo Scene can upgrade to Neo or Prospect with a $129 discount. |

Good question, this will get much clearer very soon, but we can't let the coolness of FirstLight be for 4K users only. Both NEO HD and Prospect HD version 4 get Active Metadata and the FirstLight application. There will be some extra features for the 4K products, but all the color Active Metadata features in our current 4K products will be in NEO HD and Prosepct HD in the next major release -- RSN. If you are in NeoScene you will really want NEO HD or Prospect HD, if you are in NEO HD or Prospect HD (v4), you will still want the 4K version but you will be pretty happy with the HD level product.
P.S. David's double posting.
