Here is what I understand:
If you use Nero 7, you will have problems. Cineform, sometime in the future but not right now, will try to fix NeoScene to work with Nero7. Until Cineform fixes NeoScene, you need to do one of the following: 1. Uninstall Nero 7 2. Upgrade to Nero 9 Those are your choices. |

Removed several met-discussion posts. To add to Andy's comments:
Brad, you don't need to ask Cineform's opinion about whether or not to ask the Nero people to fix their outdated Nero 7. Decide if you want to pursue that issue with Nero and if so, contact them. Good luck, as I doubt that'll happen. Few, if any, companies will continue to expend resources on software that is two versions obsolete. I realize not everyone is in a position to do so, but it is generally accepted that it is best that an editing box be ONLY an editing box. Having multiple, unrelated applications that might make calls to the same AV hardware increases the chances for unhappiness. At the very least, create a dual boot on the same machine, one for only the editing apps and the other for everything else (especially including stuff like Nero). The only cost to that is another copy of the OS.

I was having a similar issue with NeoScene and Nero 7. My outputted files were being bloated to the extreme. I had a source file of 100MB. Pre Uninstalling Nero 7, my outputted AVI file was ~700MB. Post Uninstall of Nero 7, my outputted AVI file was ~220MB.
Some of things I noticed were: Audio was scratchy/distorted as I started to play the 700MB file. When I tried to import the file into Premiere CS4, it would completely lock up the program. I would have to Ctrl Alt Delete to close it. Post Uninstalling, there is no audio distortion. My imported files in Premiere CS4 no longer cause it to lock up. I am able to add about 2 or 3 filters to a clip without having to render out. While I like having Nero 7 installed (free with motherboard), I'd rather have NeoScene installed. |

Can Nero 6 ultra edition be causing my low performance converting issues in HDLink? or is it only for nero versions 7+?

I gather from your other thread that the answer is YES. It would be nice if all software played nice with all other software but life just ain't that easy.

Fix is on the way (Thank you, Jake!)
Cineform support advised me today they will have a fix for the Nero issue late next week.
I want to thank Jake and David at Cineform for figuring out what the conflict was with Nero and for fixing the problem. Other manufacturers might have told me to pursue a fix with Nero (which never would have succeeded), but Cineform owned the issue and fixed it. Pete, I appreciate your advice on having a dedicated editing machine, but as is probably the case with many people here, that is just not practical. Until I can shell out the $$ for an 8 core Mac Pro, I'm stuck with my multifunction PC. For anyone needing an intermediate workaround for burning DVD's until next week, see my earlier post on having success with imgburn as an alternative to Nero. Its free and it burns DVDs. |

I may have jumped the gun on this one by saying that it would be out this week One of the problems was that Nero wouldn't get us a copy of Nero 7 that we could test with. They would only sell us version 9 and that version works fine. So that has stalled our efforts. We're still working on it.

Hi everybody,
Just FYI, I installed the latest NeoScene beta and so far, have had no issues with it... even WITH Nero 7 installed on my system! File sizes seem about right, and the page file stays pretty much constant (no "ever-increasing-stair-stepping-till-it-crashes"!). I haven't tried it on my Windows system without Nero to compare file sizes/compatibility, but it seems promising. Did Cineform sneak a Nero fix by us unannounced? :-) Julian |

Not unannounced. David indicated in other posting it addressed issues of synching, essentially outputting video and sound at 29.97 and addressing the Nero issue too.. they may even have been one in the same.

You're right, Chris... in their announcement, I totally skipped the part where it addressed fixing the Nero problem! I didn't bother installing it until the other day as I was waiting for the Nero fix!
