Problems with Cineform rendered from After Effects
When i render CineformAVIs from After Effects CS3 they dont playback in any player or they stop the playback of the timeline in Premiere CS3. They are CineformAVIs captured by Premiere and color corrected or some fx added in After FX. Normal workflow that is not flowing as it should.
To play them ok i have to rerender them in Premiere. Anybody rendering Cineform form AfterFX has the same problems? I use ProspectHD latest build, with a dual dual core Opteron 280, 4gb RAM, dedicated video hdd, XP SP3, Nvidia Quadro FX1500 with drivers updated. Thanks |

Which format in output module?
Which format did you choose for AE output module? Video For Windows (and Cineform compression from Format Options) or Cineform AVI?
Also how large is the rendered file (is it a large project)? If you are using Video For Windows as output module then you should try Cineform AVI as output module. Matti |

For what it's worth, I came up with this workflow several weeks ago.
To import into After Effects from Premiere and Back: 1. In Premiere, Export a sequence from the timeline as a Cineform avi file. 2. Make sure to use only After Effects CS3. 3. Make sure Cineform Neo HD and Neo Player are installed on AE computer (if AE is running on a seperate computer). 4. In After Effects, import the file. Make sure the composition settings are at— 5. (NOTE: These are the settings I use) ‘Custom’ Preset, Width: 1440, Height: 1080, Pixel/Aspect Ratio: HDV 1080/DVCPROHD 720, Frame Rate: 23.976 Frames per second. 6. Add effects. 7. Once Effects are applied to the Composition, go to ‘Add to Render Queue’ 8. In the Render Queue window, the Output Module ‘Format’ setting should be set to ‘Cineform avi’. If Cineform avi is not listed, make sure Neo HD has been installed (trial version will be just fine). Leave all other settings alone. 9. ‘Output to’ will be the name of the file you are outputting to. 10. Click on Render. 11. Import that file back into Premiere. There should be no rendering necessary. The clip should play just fine in the timeline. |

I work for 1 1/2 years with Cineform.... didnt happen before...
In the export module from AE i always choose "CineformAVI". Im working with 1920x1080 comps, square pixels (i have ProspectHD and the Adobe Production Suite CS3). After rendering, even short comps (30 seconds) wont play nor in Premiere (they playback stops) nor in Media Player/VLC (no image at all). I never have a problem with seqs exported from Premiere, just AE. Ive submitted a ticket to Cineform, havent got a solution yet. I want to know if im the only one with this problem, perhaps its something with my system (though i dont have any codec pack installed). Some ideas please? Thanks a lot |
