Prospect + CS3 (crashing)= FCP?

Hi guys, i have been running Prospect HD on my CS3 system for a year now for editing footage from my Ex1. In the last 3 month the thing have been crashing on me to the point that i stopped editting (i am a DOP, but hey i want to edit a bit).
My question is...

Would a MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 256 mb + Prospect HD (that i already own) allow me to offline (SD Quicktime) in FCP + After Effects (editing and Magic Bullet) to then replace the assets with full HD quicktime clips and render?

Do you guys think on a better solution? (i am on a 1500$ budget, so ebay macbookpro for me)

Thanks a lot...

Herminio
