RED footage in Prospect Project
We are working on a long Prospect HD project that is 99% shot on EX-1, 1080 24p. We shot a couple of overcranked scenes on a RED however at 120 fps. When this is output by the RED camera owner to uncompressed HD, he gets 40gig worth of data. This is too much to go on DVD. (he does not have Cineform on his system) Is there something like an intermediate codec for the RED footage that is more compressed and that we can then use to make Cinform with HD-Link on our system. If I could get it to 15gig, I could use a thumb drive. DVC-Pro HD? Ideally, I would want the RED footage to look like a Sony mxf file to our system, but this seems like going backwards in terms of quality.

Hi.
The Red owner could to use the trial version of Cineform and convert the r3d footage to cineform avi. It is easy and simple. |

We have another customer who intercut Red and EX1 footage. It was edited in Prospect 4K and came out very nicely.
Per Manuel's suggestion, your Red camera owner can convert files on Windows to CineForm files using our Trial version which works for 15 days. You can also convert on Mac (we're bilingual) to CineForm files, but our Mac converter puts watermarks on all material even in Trial mode. He should also be able to send you the original R3D files, since they will be even more compressed, and are at the source quality. Cineform's two week trial is very helpful for those one off conversions though.
