Premiere and After Effects interaction
Hi,
Im posting this to see if it's just me or whether anyone else is seeing problems. I generally find i get random cineform (prospect HD) errors when using both premiere and after effects at the same time. (And i suspect if you have dynamic linked compositions within the timeline). I will get crashes in various CFRenderProc modules or premiere will no longer render. A restart and going into premiere alone usually works. Also i've not been able to render out a 70000 frame project with out rendering it on the time line in chunks first. It will generally always freeze or crash if i don't. (I have 8GB under winxp64). Im on 3.4.0 build 174 (according to HDLink). Im running on a quad core so i think this could be some kind of threading interaction. Another example is if i render in AE (multithreaded) then quite often the AE Render processes will crash one by one during an output render (CFRenderProc again). However if i capslock before rendering (to freeze the interactive display) i can generally render okay. Again sounds like some multithreading interaction going on. Is this unique to me, or are others experiencing something similar. cheers paul Last edited by Paul Curtis; October 26th, 2008 at 05:06 AM. |

Paul,
The majority of minor "dot" updates are for bug fixes so it is possible that whatever problem you are having has been fixed. The current official release of ProspectHD is Build 183. Worth a try since you're three minor updates behind...just takes a couple minutes. Uninstall ProspectHD withOUT deactivating, download and install the latest version and see how it goes. If it causes problems somehow, just uninstall the new and reinstall the old. Here's the update log for PHD: Prospect HD Update Log Otherwise, sounds like it might be worth filing a Trouble Ticket with Cineform.

Pete,
I did try just updating to 183 but trying to open my project just crashed premiere and importing an old clip into a fresh project quits it too. Transcoding a fresh clip from XDCAM to cineform worked but im not about to transcode a few hundred more. I've gone back to the old version (which still works) and putting up with it. I filed a support ticket too - i guess something has changed between my version and 183. cheers paul |
