So does the full screen overlay work in VISTA with ATI cards? That explanation from Nvidia made it sound as though Vista is restricting this feature from working as part of a plan to help protect content. If Vista as a whole does not support this full screen overlay, no matter which card you choose, then Cineform should consider writing their application differently. I currently use Adobe default presets most of the time when editing as I so much more felxibility on what screen I can output to. Plus the hardware overlay has always been a little flaky.
I realize this route was originally chosen as it was less resource intensive, but it seems that it is outliving it's usefulness. |

Not to derail the thread further, but since Nvidia vs. ATi is being discussed I wanted to mention that I recently swopped to ATi to avoid the overlay color-shift being discussed here, and also to minimize the "black pause" between scrubbing and playback ( http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/cineform-...ack-pause.html ).
I was initially happy with the decision, until I realized I'd lost all hardware acceleration for Magic Bullet Colorista and Looks: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/digital-c...eleration.html |
