Migration from Neo 2K to Neo HD - with a slight complication.
I currently have Neo2K installed on my main Windows XP PC and on my Win XP laptop
I understand that the new version is NEO HD I would like to upgrade the desktop PC, which is pretty straightforward. I also want to move the additional license you were kind enough to give me from my old laptop to my new one. The complication is that the new laptop is a MacBook Pro with Vegas running under VMWare, which so far is all working quite nicely. The problem is that one can't capture Firewire from the virtual machine, but has to capture under MacOS and then access the files in Vegas, Where I want to wind up is with HDLink running under MacOS (when the Mac version ships) and with the appropriate codecs in place on both the MacOS host machine side and the Win XP virtual machine side. I don't particularly want to edit under MacOS, but I think I'll need the codec installed there to support HDLink. Could you give me a suggestion as to how best to proceed to get all this working? |

On the Mac side, you could try capturing with DVHSCap. Then on the PC side, convert the downloaded files using Cineform's HDLink. DVHSCap is a free Mac utility that comes in Apple's Firewire SDK. You'll have to sign up on Apple's developer site to download it.
