Capturing HDV as .mov on Mac PP CS3
I have been away from videoediting for about a year. I recently moved from PC and Vegas to Mac and PP CS3 and I have some HDV footage captured through PP CS3. When on PC I could (using HD-link) capture and transform into an cineform intermediate fileformat so that I could edit "frame-by-frame" and not be restricted to GOP editing (not sure if this is the right term but I guess you know what I mean). Is there a similar solution for the Mac platform (I have, to no avail, spent time trying to figure this out)? Any input/guidance is highly appreciated.
P.S. I did download the Cineform maccodec trial but as far I understand that does not achieve what I want but it might just be that I don't know how use it. I guess there will be quality loss if a just put the HDV on the timeline, encode with the cineform codec and the use the resulting .mov as bas for editing. Regards //Hans |

There is no way to capture using Cineform on a Mac. What you can do (if you own Cineform) is to capture in Windows (on your Mac using Boot Camp) to Cineform Quicktime files, then import those into your PPCS3 project and you're off and running.
