HD link will not recognize my camera
Hello all,
I have a Canon XH A1 and have been capturing my HD footage and coverting to Cineform intermediate codec in Premiere Pro 1.5.1 for over a year with no problems. The last time I captured was about two weeks ago. Well today I decided to capture within premiere and it will not recognize my Canon camera. If I set the settings to "DV Device" than it seems to capture my HD footage in SD. I decided to exit Premiere and try HD link. I first turn on the camera and here the typical windows XP aknowledgement chime. But when I open HD link it says no device found in the drop down menu. I have my camera in HD 60i play back mode and I have even used HD footage on tapes I have captured before with no problem but I still cannot get HD link to see my camera. I went to device drivers and my camera is listed in "Imaging devices" and not in "Sound video and game controllers" as Cineform states it should. I have other programs on the same computer that recognize my Canon camera with no problem just as Cineform used to. What happened here? Thanks Mark |

It sounds like the camera is in DV mode or Downcovert to DV mode. You can know this for sure by checking Windows Device Manager. If the camera shows up as an 'Imaging Device' Then it is definitely in DV mode or Downcovert mode. It needs to show up in Sound, Video and Game Controllers as an AV/C Tape Device. Then HDLink and Premiere should be able to recognize it again as an HDV Camcorder. So look in the camera's menu settings and turn it back to HDV mode. Try that and if it still doesn't work, contact us at CineForm Support.
