Canon XHA1 HV20 with Adobe-Avid tandem
Hi Davids and users of Cineform.
I film with Canon XHA1 and HV20. I edit with Cineform ProspectHD and Adobeīs Production Suite. The end quality its outstanding. An Avid pro editor starts to collab with us in the cutting of our 1rst long feature, a documentary about Senegalīs traditional culture. 1. What would be the optimal workflow for him to work with my footage without buyng a new license of Prospect for his PC? I could capture in Cineform for him... by firewire he can only get HDV interlaced in Avid or .m2t files with HDVSplit, so further transcode to DNxHD would be needed 2. What would be the advantage of buying an extension of my license -if possible- for his PC? We tried to export Cineform files from my work (he downloaded NEO player) and export in the best avid codec (DNxHD 185x - 10bit 1080p25) in his PC, and the quality of the latest was notoriously inferior. We would appreciate some guidance or similar experiences. Thanks! |

Currently Avid cannot understand CineForm files without transcoding to DNxHD. A license of Prospect HD for your colleague would not benefit him unless he intends to use PPro.
We know of Avid users that capture using CineForm and remove telecing. They then import CineForm files into their Avid while transcoding to DNxHD. |
