Cineform compression vs ProRez
Hi David,
Could you help me here, I am trying to do a quality analysis between ProRez and Cineform compression technology. The reason I ask is some of the post houses here swear by prores. My question is quite simple, which is better? I know there are many variables to consider but at the best settings which produces a better picture? Is there an article somewhere I could refer? Thanks |

Visual quality: Cineform wins
OSX workflow: ProZ Win workflow: ;) these are my opinions in daily usage of both codecs, not scientific facts -Kaspar |

We have found it difficult to do a perfect job with the objective evaluation as you have requested. The reason is that After Effects is our preferred tool for doing this evaluation, but ProRes only appears as 8 bits in AE, unless Apple has done an update in the mean time.

Thanks David,
I realise that objectivity is key to producing meaning results, however I don't mind some bias towards one or the other. |
