another premiere/pc mac/fcp question
I'm pretty sure this question has been asked and answered, but I rather need to make sure.
I have Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, with AspectHD. A friend of mine, with whom I'm collaborating on a project, is thinking of getting an iMac with Final Cut Pro. She asks if we can share files easily. My understanding is if she got ProspectHD, and her iMac is intel-based, this would work fine. Is that correct? I can send her AVI files made with the cineform codec, yes? If she gets the trial version of ProspectHD, and the trial version expired, can she still open up files I sent her? |

Yes to all, although MOVs are more widely used on the Mac, so you will sometimes need to rewrap your AVI to MOVs (a feature within HDLink.)

Dennis,
I'm working on building a FCP offline to Adobe w/ AspectHD online, and here's the theoretical process I think will work: FCP, Cineform MOV files, exported via EDL (transitions and opacity & audio only) Take and rewrap the files from MOV to AVI, changing the extension in the EDL with a simple find and replace of .mov to .avi. Open Premiere, open EDL, and enjoy. The opposite could easily be applied to go from Adobe to FCP. As an SD to HD offline possibility, here is another plan. Capture m2ts, convert to SD low quality for FCP offline. Same process from there out, except instead of the rewrap, a new m2t -> Cineform conversion at High or FS resolution. Application of final color corrections, etc. :) C |
