XL1S studio configuration help
I need help configuring an XL1s to work in a studio environment. Putting an LCD view finder on it, but need help with remote grip controls for focus and zoom. And looking for a way to adjust the iris from a control room or one of the grip control. (kind of like shading on a ccu)
I've messed with the varizoom and am not pleased with the results. You have to push the buttons down too hard. There's no ability to ramp the zoom speed. any suggestions? |

You are limited to what can be done with LANC control, and iris may not be possible with the standard lens. The Canon ZR-1000 is another option to evaluate.

in the back of the manual under optional accessories it lists the zoom remote controller ZR-1000. It has the same zoom toggle as on the camera which isn't that good but I found if you put a piece of firm yet compressable foam on top you have far better control so you could try that. I thought I had heard about another controler with a zoom wheel but I could be wrong. Maybe back on a previous thread from some time ago.
The remote says it controls focusing functions so that seems to imply more than just focus position unless function means things like rack focus. Sorry its not much help but the foam might serve as a work around. |
