Those bars!!!

Hi everyone, new message poster and from what I have seen maybe and old topic. I was doing some editing on some footage from my xl1 and low and behold I had a tine black bar (about 4 pixles) on the left and right of my footage. What is this and does anyone have any suggestions to get rid of it. Thank you.

It is normal on the XL1 and XL1s. Iit is in the overscan area so it will not show on a normal TV set. If it bothers you you can crop it with your NLE.

Thank you for your reply! Sorry to sound like a total rookie but what is NLE?
Thanks again

You can read all about it here The most viewed thread on the XL1 General Forum. There are several suggestions given dealing with the black bars. Resizing in After Effects is probably the best solution. But ask yourself, Do I really need to worry about them? If your footage is destined for video in one form or another your OK. They will only show up if your doing Web work (full frame can be viewed).

NLE is kind of a shorthand for the editing package that runs on the computer.
