Audio/Video Cover Switch?
While connecting A/V cables to my XL1S today, I noticed what appears to be a microswitch that is activated by the hinged A/V connector cover (Audio 1). It is just above and to the right of the S-Video connector. Does anyone know why the switch is there and what could possibly be affected by the door being open or closed?

Don Palomaki has a maintenance manual on the XL1 so he can lay the mystery to rest. However, it looks to me like a spring, to give the door a click feel to it as it opens and closes.

You're probably correct Jeff. I've been looking a little closer and it seems to be some sort of spring arrangement to hold the door closed since there is another spring in the hinge to hold the door open once it gets past that initial resistance. At first glance, it sure looks like a typical switch actuating mechanism though and I couldn't figure out what it could possibly be used for. I think you've cleared it up, thanks.

No indication in the manual that the mefal spring is anything other than a spring to hold the door closed.
