550EX vs. 380EX
Does anyone know if the new Canon 550EX Speedlight Flash will work with the XL-1 in the same integrated way as the 380EX?

Yes, the 550EX will indeed work with the XL1/XL1S. It's listed in the new XL1S sales brochure. Hope this helps,
