Canon XL-1 Lens on a 550D body?!?!
Hi all,
I am wandering if the lens on the XL-1 would be able to be mounted on a 550D body? Thanks. |

With lenses more or less anything is possible, but some things are just so much trouble it's not worth it.
One of the main problems you'd find is that the iris (and possibly even the zoom and focus?) are electronically controllled from the camera body and that the 550D wouldn't talk to the XL lens. Also the XL lens is designed for a tiny 1/3" chip while the 550D is APS-C so massively bigger, therefore the XL lens would only cover a tiny bit of the frame and all else would be black. Steve |
