Does anyone know how to take the XL1 apart specifically....
specifically the hand grip strap area. I know there are two screws in between the lens and the handle and I have taken them out but still can't get the grip area to come off. One can slightly pull the two pieces arpart but something is still holding it together. Even took out the five hex screws holding the camera together and it didn't seem to do anything...
Thanks Rob |

When you attempt to disassemble a camera like this, you're only playing with fire and running a risk of damaging it even more than it already is.
Your best bet is to send it to factory service and get an estimate for proper repair. Hope this helps, |

My viewfinder also was damaged in the drop (see thread below) and I took that apart very easily, was able to get the viewfinder working again, and all I need now is the pivot part of the viewfinder replaced which came out very easily. I know I can fix this camera. The damage to it is minor. I can save time and money by fixing the viewfinder. It's a no brainer. I just figured the hand grip would be as accessible but it is proving not to be at this time...
