HELP...VHS-C footage to XL1
Please help. I need to dub vhs-c footage into my XL1 onto a mini dv tape. The manual says you can do it, but each time I try, I get a "Check DV input" message on my XL1 viewfinder. WHY ??? I am using audio/video cables out of the player camcorder and into the XL1. Would S- video cables work??

Sorry, but this is not possible with the XL1.
You may have possibly misread the manual... the RCA and S-video jacks on the back of the camera are for *output* only. There is no way to use them for recording video into the XL1. The viewfinder says "check DV input" because the only way to record video into the XL1 is through the DV jack on the right side of the camera. You'll need a different DV camcorder, or a DV deck, that allows analog video input. The new XL1S has this feature, but not the XL1. Any of the smaller consumer-grade DV camcorders such as the Canon Elura or ZR series, or any Sony DV camcorder made after 1997 will have this ability as well. See another thread on this forum, "Why Are There No Analog Inputs On The Xl-1?" for more information. Hope this helps, |
