Locking screw comming loose

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question:

The locking screw on my XL1s which is suppose to keep the microphone and viewfinder bracket in place on the camera, loosens by itself all the time... (like in just about every 5 minutes of handeling the camera).

Somehow I figured it to be a flaw in the desighn of the camera, or maybe that there is something missing like a rubber ring to tighten the locking screw on, which for some odd reason, Canon might have forgotten to place on my camera.

Is anybody experiancing the same problem or is it a part missing?
(Gaffer tape just doesnt seem like a nice way of going about this!)

Just wondering...

There is supposed to be a rubber washer sort ot thing that helps keep it tight.

It is kind of horseshoe shaped with a tab on one side. Called "Protector, CVF nut" part number DA1-8323-000 000.

And I too have lost mine!
