Passing Audio to VCR
This is my first time here...looks like a great resource.
Here is my problem: I have an XL1s. I am passing audio to the XL1s using an XLR into my MA200. What I need to do is to record the audio and video back to a VCR. I am successful in recording the video back to the VCR using the RCA video connector, but I cant seem to get the audio to record on the VCR. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Sal |

I really don't know much about the audio of the XL1S, so I won't be a big help I'm afraid, but maybe it's one of the switches or something that's wrong calculated at the audio panel of the cam?

Welcome aboard DVInfo.net Sal. If I remember correctly the audio
is either in or out (through the RCA ports), so what you want to do is not possible I think. Where would you put the cables as well? Since you put the MA200 cables onto the available audio ports, right? What you perhaps can do is get the signal from the headphones port (make sure your level is correct)? What most professionals seem to do (in general) is to have a mixer where everything comes in and is then distributed to the camera and/or recording device(s) and headphones etc.

Thanks Rob....maybe now I can add to the forum.
After calmly...(-; thinking of it logically...I found a solution. My 4 mics are going thru a mixer --> out to an XLR I had an XLR y-adapter, so I connected the Y to the XLR adapeter from the mixer. I attached the Y to the MA200 input 1, and input 2, Then I connected the RCA plug into the MA200 RCA Audio2 out, I ran that to my VCR and Voila.... Sound and picture records on the XL1s and my VCR and an audio cassette deck that I also have hooked up. I did think about using the headphone jack but wanted a better way. BTW: I needed this configuration for doing video depositions using my XL1s. The lawyers look for a VCR master and an audio cassette master at the finsih of the session.... I hope this helps someone else on the forum. Sal |
