Adding Music on the XLS-1
I was told earlier that in order to film in no sound on the Canon
XLS-1, I could simply un-plug the mic. My question is, can you later add music over that no sound? Or if you film, can you add music over it and block out all the original sound that you recorded, say using the Pinnacle Pro One system? I know this question is odd, but I would appreciate any info provided. Thank you all for your time. |

Yes. You can add sound in any editing program.

Hello Todd,
Your questions are not "odd" at all. They suggest that you are new to videography and video editing and are understandably confused by how it all works. I suggest that you take time to look through our "Read About It" forum which covers many good books on the subject. Off-hand, I suggest getting a copy of "The Digital Filmmaking Handbook" by Ben Long and Sonia Schenk. It will provide you with a soup-to-nuts overview of the entire process of shooting and editing your video and audio. Additionally, if you'll take time to share your objectives with us we may be able to offer you a bit more guidance.
