Help!! My XL1s has started eating tapes when rewinding!!!
I've had my XL1s for a little over a year. It has always run great, as far as up to the other day. But today, I tried re-winding a tape in it and I noticed the counter in the viewfinder started disappearing and re-appearing when it was re-winding. The next thing I know, it stopped re-winding and told me to remove the cassette. The eject stammered a little bit, and my tape was eaten. Nothing seriously important was on the tape, but this really disturbs me. It plays & fast-forwards just fine. But my rewind is on the blink!! HELP!!!

Just this tape or all tapes?
How many miles (hours) on the XL1s?

Send it in to Canon service for a professional cleaning. This should be done once a year anyway.
