Adrian,
The production is winding down finally. In the future I'll separate editing the video and mixing the sound from making any QuickTimes. This client wanted to see every cut in QTs and that cost a tremendous deal of time and frustration. It really is a waste of time to make QTs while still working on the editing. Once video gets to the QT and Cleaner stage, a whole bunch of new problems pop up. Better and more efficient to keep the two stages separate. The black lines did end up costing us time ($) since we had to blow up EVERY shot twice - when we made the QuickTimes and, now that we have to dump everything out to video, we have to re-render every blown up shot again. The loss of resolution is slightly apparent only when we dump it to tape. You should have no problems with QTs. The production will end up on DigiBeta for future broadcast and converted to PAL as well. I promised Chris I would write an article summarizing the experience. I haven't gotten around to it yet but I will and hope to put a couple of QTs online for everyone to see these cameras, whith a little bit of care, can do quite a good job of fooling the untrained eye into thinking it was shot on Beta. In fact, in QT form I don't think even a trained eye can tell the difference. |
