That could be a big if. I've never had a problem. It's also something that you would be aware of immediately. My gut feeling is that everyone seems unsure and rather than take a chance they err on the side of caution.

I'm going to continue using a linear on both my DV Cams. I'm a choosey type and would notice immediately if there was something amiss.
