slow-motion, XL1S vs. Pd150
Im still trying to decide which camera I want to go with. My movie calls for a lot of slow motion, it will be done with Premiere or avid xpress dv. So im wondering which camera will give me a better slow motion picture. I heard that the frame mode on the xl1s gives good results. Has anyone compared the two?
thanks Jason |

I have'nt compared the two but as long as the sony has frame movie mode, which it probably has it should give you the same results.
Although, even if you use normal movie mode you can late de-interlace the footage in the edit, to make it smoother, or use a plugin. Hope this helps, Ed Smith |

As I understand it, The XV/PD does not have a frame mode. It has a 15 fps progressive mode. Not the same.

You're right about that Don. The PD150 has progressive scan, but only at 15fps. It will look as if you've shot the movie with an old 8mm camera (jerky that is). The XL1's frame mode, shoots 25fps.
Hummerman, rumors are that if you wan't good slowmotion, then you should use the motions twixtor plug-in for Aftereffects (I think that was it's name). However, I don't know if this plug-in shall be use on progressive or interlaced footage. Regards, Erik |
