Did some search on inet and found that extending distance between mic and camcorder in 1.5 times will reduce noise from camcorder servos by about 3-4db.

I have had the same servo noises with my XL1s as well. Then I started mounting a shotgun mic on the accessory shoe. The audio isn't as rich, but you don't get the motor hum either. Ideally, I only use the on board audio as a reference anyways, and record into a hard disk recorder for final audio.
If Kairat has an unusually loud zoom motor, then I'm plagued with it too. Anybody else? |
