Video "In"puts on XL-1
Hello!
I understand that FireWire is always In/Out, however, are the analog RCA/S-video options ONLY "in"s on the XL-1? I am trying to import VHS material into Final Cut Pro on my Mac G4. I have S-video and RCA out options from my VCR, but am unable to get any images to be viewable through my XL-1, regardless of the settings. I am getting the audio signal through the XL-1, but no video. I also had the FireWire cable going from my camera to my Mac G4, in the hopes that I could simply take the VHS signal through my camera, and into my computer. Is that possible, or must I use another set-up (ie. Hollywood Dazzle video converter)? Thanks! David |

The XL-1 doesn't have analog video in, I have one and I use a sony media converter to digitize my analog tapes. The XL-1s does have analog in.

Stay away from the dazzle, it tends to drop frames. I suggest a canopus advc100. About $300

No way, no how can you put video into an XL-1 (you can on the XL-1S).
I have heard several people recommend the Canopus. Also Video Guys - DAC 1/2 has a bridge that also has component video out.
