XL1S Shooting mode won't turn on at DVinfo.net

My XL1S won't turn on in any mode. Screem flashes but won't turn on. VCR mode turns on. I changed batteries and tried using stand-by to turn on. This happened whils I was shooting.
Anyone had experience with this?

Is anything connected to the camcorder?
Does the camcordre play previously recorded tapes?

Have you tried forcing a system reset by removing all batteries (including the backup) for 30 minutes?
