Firewire Problems Xl!s
has anyone found a problem with their firewire i/o off of the xl1s.
all of a sudden it wont talk to any computers (ive tried a few). also the dv in stays lit up when the camera is in vcr mode. is it a bad chip or a short on the pins. i tried clearing the memory and shutting off the dv input in the cameras system setting. i dont want to ship this to canon (and i have a deadline this week and still have 2 tapes to capture) PLEASE HELP!

I've had some intermittant problems, but I have always been able to connect. After disconnecting, reconnecting, and/or rebooting the CPU. (Using Windows XP and AvidXpress)
Try to asertain whether its the firewire cable itself. Are you plugging it into another firewire device, i.e. an external drive? I hope you find a solution soon. Cheers! Derrick |

Try using another cable and try recording to another firewire camcorder. Also inspect your XL-1S firewire connector and make sure all 4 pins are there and in good shape.
