Index-Markers by XL 1
Hi Everybody,
it seems to me that my XL 1 doesn't write index markers on the tape when I push the start button. The new XL 1 S does. I don't believe that the XL 1S has totally new software - I don't believe it's a hardware thing. Is there a way to "upgrade" my XL 1 in that one respect? Greetings from Mannheim Torsten |

No, there's no way to accomplish such an upgrade. Sorry.

There's a work-around method for indexing shots with an XL1. Go to the Tips page of the XL1 Watchdog at www.dvinfo.net/xl1.htm > User Tips and see "Better Slate Than Never." Hope this helps,

Hi Ken,
thanks a lot for Your quick peply. Even my old S-VHS camera did do it, so I didn't even ask if it was possible with the XL 1; I thought the best camera of all would do an easy thing like that standing on its head. Well, what do You suggest? I read the article about putting a still Video in front of each clip, but that's a thing where You have to plan each scene and have to have time. But as I am a hobby- and holiday-filmer, most of the scenes happen spontanuously (Spontanuously? Spontaneously!!), so most often there is no time. By the way: I like the way You people in the community interact with each other. There is a lot of humour in many of the articles I read. I Like it! Glad I found You! Torsten |
