WD-58 Hood
Is it possible to mount this hood on the Wide Angle Lens of Sony (VCL-HG0758) ? The lens' diameter is 93mm.

I have the baby brother of the Wide Angle adapter the VCL-HG0737. And there is no front filter thread so you cannot attach anything.
So unless the bigger brother is different then you cannot use a lenshood....perhaps a Mattebox but I guess it would depend on the model and it's position. |

It is possible to mount a hood without filter thread. Look at http://www.cavision.com/LensHood/sunshade.htm
They provide lens hoods with adapting rings of various diameters. The problem with the Cavision products is that they are quite expensive. The hood that comes with Canon's WD-58H (can be purchased w/o the lens) is cheaper (34$), but I'm not sure it fits the Sony lens. Anyway the flaring of the wide angle lens is awfull. It's almost unusable in the sunshine conditions. |

Vadim I'm wondering the same thing. I'm apprehensive though, because it appears as if the canon hood is bayonet mount, and I'm unsure in the VCL-HG0758 has a notch at the end of the unit that would suit this. Let alone the fact that I'm in the dark about the diameter at the end of the lens compared with the WD-58. I'll keep researching and checking back here though. Good luck!

The canon will not mount on the Sony WA. the cavision line have an extensive selection of adapter rings ($5). The cavision rubber hood also has a 105mm filter thread it's $60
