I Took The Plunge!

Well, I just changed my automatic signature down at the bottom there to include the XL H1!

Got it today (bought it on this forum from Jason Strongfield, btw - great transaction) and I am looking forward to trying it out tomorrow at a wedding I have to shoot. I am going to have to shoot in 4:3 SD for that event because its a five camera shoot and the others will be in that format, but it will be good to get my hands dirty on that new piece of gear. I'll try some HD very soon.

I have already fired her up (of course!) and felt out the controls. I have to say that I am VERY impressed with the peaking feature on the evf. I read about it here before I purchased, but until I saw it for myself, I had no idea how great it would be. As a matter of fact, when I turned it back off, I was shocked by how soft the image now looked and how difficult it was to be certain when the focus was right on after getting used to the peak assistance.

Also very impressed with the stabilization. I stood on my porch and zoomed in on a RR crossing sign 100-150 yards away and switched it on and off. Quite a difference. I am pretty sure my XL2 is not that stable, but I haven't taken the time to actually compare.

Okay, this post is already too long for a thread that doesn't really offer much new information, but I wanted to share my excitement. We plan to sell off our SD gear and purchase 2 more of these babies by September, so this is the start of a big change for our little company.

By the way, before I purchased, I spent countless hours on this forum reading everything I could find, and the info was invaluable! Also Adam Wilts website was fantastic, and I highly recommend it.

Hello HD!
