Finally Canon has shipped me my (2) wide angle lenses. I'll provide some feedback shortly.

Now How Can I Get One, or Two?
Are you in the know, or did you have them pre ordered?

Pre order
I preordered them about 3-weeks ago and received the shipping tracking number last night. I'll post some info as soon as they are in my hands.

Here is a link to the B&H listing for the 6x. Where is that rich uncle when you need a great Christmas gift?

Jonas, did you get the new firmware on an SD card with the lens? Or do we dumb "swedes" still need to see the authorised Canon repair center to do the installation? Hope your new lens is fine! /Johan

Here it is (and firmvare is included even in Sweden). And here is my lovely doughter telling me to make dinner instead of playing around with that stupid toy! I will post some more footage later tonight!

ironing board Res chart
Here is my first test on a res chart. I had to run home from my office to see the new 6x zoom. So I printed out a a res-chart and I had our ironing board as tripod. As you know the EVF on the XL H1 is not the best, so had a bit on the wall as well... But as you can see, nice resolution at the corners. A little bit of CA (purple fringe), but noticable less then the 20x lens (or what do you say?). When just playing around, I get feel that the lens has a really nice low barrel distortion.
PS. I had to fold the test chart, you may see a slight "bend" at the center. DS.

Jonas, thanks for posting. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you do these again with a couple of adjustments:
- verify that a back focus has been done on the lens - frame using on-screen monitor (eg capture window) so it isn't overscanned - label the picture with the lens used or put the lens used somewhere in the file name Again, thanks for taking the time -- lots of people will be very interested in this lens!
