Underwater Housing help on H1

Thanks anyone for great help!

I had a Xl2 and I am planning to get my H1.
I need to use it underwater. Now I am on a Gates, specificaly for Xl2 (4000 USD).
These days I discovered that Canon H1 wil not fit Gates Xl2 housing even they are almost the same size (the H1 is 1 millimiter taller).
Using the Xl2 inside Gates housing the shoulder pad a the viewfinder need to be removed: no problem because it has some screws...
Canon support can't help me about removing the shoulder pad on the H1: "it could be removed but we do not suggest to do it because some electricalcomponents...".
The new Gates H1 Housing will get around 9000 USD.
So I really would use my old one (for XL2).

The question is:
Is it possibile to remove the shoulder pad on the H1 without damaging the camera? I will not use the output at 1.5 gbits, so...
Anyone of you know if is possible cut off some cables inside the shoulderpad without compromising...
Thanks for help, Gabriele
