XL H1 HD-SDI mobile capturing - again

Hi!

During the last days I red nearly all threads about recording XL H1's HD-SDI signal on the field. Result was that there was no practical solution until June (http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=69872).

But since September there might be another solution:

All Decklink cards can capture in the "better than HDV" Decklink codec named "Online JPEG".

Advantage: No RAID system required.

Can't we use an up-to-date laptop (fast processor) with a Expresscard-To-PCI adapter (like http://www.mobl.com/expansion/produc...ot/index.html), a Decklink PCI-X card and achive a much better quality than HDV on the field?

Has anybody tested a system like this?
Will the system be able to compress and transfer the data fast enough?
What are your thoughts?

This would be an ideal workflow, but ...

Some issues could be:

1. THis only seems to work with PCI-based cards, not PCI-X or PCI-Express. I don't think there are any PCI capture cards that can capture uncompressed HD. There isn't enough bandwidth ... you would need at least PCI-X or above.

2. The compression would happen once it hits the CPU of the laptop, so therefore the 1.485Gbp per second data rate of what comes out of the HD-SDI spigot may be too much or something like this handle. The pathway to the CPU has to be fast enough for this and I don't know if this can do it ...

PLEASE someone prove me wrong as this looks like a nice solution for my Macbook Pro.
