24f sd question
Hello:
I am under the impression that when you shoot 24f on the Canon XL H1 that the camcorder looses a significant amount of resolution. My question is how would 24f look in sd with the loss of resolution (presentable). I have a two camera shoot coming up soon and i want to splice footage of the hvx200 and xl h1 both in 24p-f mode in sd. Would they look similar in terms of quality and color and resolution? If anyone has any clips that they could post of the XL H1 in 24f sd mode i would appreciate it. thank you |

24f in SD will probably not show any significant resolution loss. The only "loss" of resolution is going from 1080i to 1080 24F. That takes this camera from being the highest res camera in it's class down to.....well the sharpest camera in it's class! Even with the minor loss of res in 24f, it is still as sharp or sharper than the HVX or HD100. So this should be insignificant.
In 24f for SD I really don;t think you'll notice a difference. The resolution form the CCDs, even in Fmodes, far exceeds the 720x480 res of SD so you should be ok. The same goes for the HVX. The resolution of the CCDs is far more than the 720x480 SD spec. Essentially you will be "dumbing down" both cameras to a resolution that for the most part takes the HD resolution comparison out of the equation. I'd be more concerned with matching colors and gamma looks than resolution. Peace. |
