Okay, if I shoot at 24f, and convert to DVCPRO HD in Cinema Tools, what Database settings on Cinema Tools should I use?

Brad,
You have to perform inverse telecine in Cinema Tools in order to get true 23.98 clips. You actually don't want to hit the "conform" button in the clip window because that will actually give you a slow mo effect if you're going to 23.98. Email me and I'll shoot you over the settings I've had success with. I also recommend that you export very short clips (5-10 sec.) as "self-contained movies" from a DV100 1080i timeline in order to test out the settings. Sometimes it takes two or three guesses with the "field 1,2 aa, bb etc." in order to get a successful extraction. Create a new database and then try the pulldown removal. HTH, Barlow |
