Does anybody have any idea if the XL H1 will actually ever be available as a body-only package? (Somehow I doubt it on first release, considering there is only one lens available, but if Canon do bring out a wide-angle lens - which they must, in my opinion - then there may be quite a lot of people out there willing to buy just the body and use it with only the wide angle lens, or together with prime still lenses etc via adapters and save on the need to buy the 20X lens).

Don't know about later, but the XL H1 will initially only be available with the new 20x lens. No mention at all body-only kit so far. At least for a while, if you want to go wider than that, you'll either need to use an EF adaptor and lens, or go the mini35 route.
A small grace is that the new 20x HD lens has a slightly wider 35mm equivalent than the old 20x lens -- 38.9mm vx 42.3mm at the wide end. Whether that small difference is due to different optics in the two lenses, or to different sensor size in the cameras, I'm not sure about. (Suspect the latter, but I guess it doesn't much matter why).
