Wafian HR-1 SDI-based Disk Recorder
Okay, this is the system we've all been asking for...kinda. A little on the pricey side at $15k, but according to their website they will do 30% off if you are a beta tester.
http://www.wafian.com/products/HR-1/ To me, this doesn't look set up as a field-based product. It does break ground, though, and hopefully some other solutions will follow soon. I like that you can record up to 18 hours. KW |

It's not what you'd call portable! :-)

looks like it's just a HTPC that records SDI. you can custom build one for much less provided you have all the software.
good for studio stationary applications but not portable.

The big difference between this and something you would build yourself is they worked out all the interface bugs for you. I think people will definetly buy, just not targeted at the indie or the run and gun marketas much.
