DV Expo West is a major show for Canon. I doubt they'll show "uncompressed" video, as the point of uncompressed HD output is not to actually capture and edit uncompressed but rather to capture and edit any of a variety of existing HD formats such as DVCPRO HD, or HDCAM, or whatever. Surely they will show the "Watchmaker's Shop" vignette that was produced for the H1's rollout at the Canon Global Expo back in September. That sequence is DVCPRO HD if I recall correctly. Hopefully they will also show some HDV material as well. Canon Inc. in Japan has some beautiful 60i that was shot in Italy; if they're smart then Canon USA will have this video at DV Expo West in addition to the Watchmaker stuff. We'll find out pretty soon!

Is the watchmaker stuff available for download or viewing anywhere?

Nope! Not to my knowledge anyway. You'd think that they would have made that available immediately after the announcement.

Not sure if Canon will be ready for this by DV Expo.. but in future trade shows, the entire Watchmaker set will be available (in conjunction with showing the footage), with the H1 on hand for demo.. using the 'live' set of course.
pretty cool stuff! |
