HD File size
I just downloaded Kaku's 11 MB file of the nighttime highway scene. It ran about 3.5 seconds, or 3.6 MB per second of video. This is apporoximately the same file size per second of video as any of my uncompressed SD footage. I thought that HD was supposed to have huge files per footage time unit, not in the same range as SD. Am I mistaken, or did the download somehow compress the files?

HDV is roughly the same as the DV bit rate. That's the beauty of it. There's lots of information around here about the different file sizes for SD, DV, HDV, DVCProHD, Uncompressed, etc. You might try searching "file size" or something like that.
