xlh1 - veiwfinder problem
have an old xlh1 - use mainly for training and 2nd camera stuff, the viewfinder has suddenly gone "dark" like the brightness has been turned down - there is still a picture - but just - have played with menu settings and makes no difference, anyone have any suggestions, or has anyone got an old viewfinder they do not want?

Sounds like the backlight for the display has karked it, or something similar.
You could try mailing Canon and asking about the repair cost, though a cheaper option would possibly be to source a s/h one, maybe from someone who's upgraded to a b&w unit. Can't imagine they're going to be a dime a dozen somehow. CS |

Re: xlh1 - veiwfinder problem
Don't bother to contact Canon about pricing. They will not discuss repair cost. If you continue to use your Canon regularly, I would bite the bullet and send it to Canon and let them check out the entire Camera. At this point they will give you an itemized estimate of cost for all issues that need to be resolved. The XLH1 is still, in my opinion a great camera.
You can also try and on camera monitor. |
