Canon XL H1 Press Kit Info

Here's some stuff off the press kit.

-1/3 inch 16:9 interlaced CCDs
-1080i resolution, switchable to SD
-selectable frame rates 60i, 30 frame, 24 frame
-DIGIC DV II for HD and SD signals
-HD-SDI output
-Genlock and SMPTE Time Code I/O
- Uses HDV DigitalMaster + MiniDV tapes

Cine Control
-3 color matrixes
-two cinegammas
-customizable knee, black stretch, horizontal detail, coring, sharpness, noise reduction, color gain, hue and master color adjustments
* all can be modified independently and setting can be saved to the SD card and transferred wirelessly or via sneakernet to other H1s.

Still image capture
captures images + metadata at full HD resolution (1920x1080 dpi or 2.1 megapixels), images are saved with the exact same settings as video or can be switched to true still camera settings

Field of View
-color electronic EVF
- 2.4" 16:9 LCD
- safe area marking built-in
- Zebra pattern 70-100 IRE
- horizontal and vertical flip
- distance readout using 20X HD Lens
- selection of Aspect Ratio Guides via menu: 4x3, 13x9, 14x9, 1.66:1, 1.75:1, 1.85:1, 235:1
- Focus help: Peaking - exaggerated line in viewfinder, disappears when image in focus
- Focus help: Magnifying - enlarges viewfinder image

Canon Lens
- interchangeable mount
- 20x HD lens, f1.6 to f3.5
- close focusing distance of 20mm at wide angle
- *they made a deal about being able to pull focus, I'll have to look into this more
- 16:9 20x zoom is 38.9mm to 778mm
- 4:3 is 47.4mm to 954mm
- 72mm filter thread
- 2 independent ND filters (1/6, 1/32)
- focus and zoom presets + optical image stabilization

Optical image stabilization
Not only does it use a gyro, it examines the image after the CCD receives it to detect any low frequency vibrations the gyro missed. The data is fed back to accelerate/refine the stabilization of the prism.

Available as a kit in November 2005 estimated at $8,999
