30F Strobe Effect/ Viewfinder Tuning
Hello,
I just picked up a brand-new XL H1a at a ridiculous price; for my purposes this camera will do the job beautifully for the foreseeable future. I recently shot some test footage in daylight at 30F/60fps. My test subjects were simply walking around the yard, dancing and goofing around for the sake of testing the 30F. I noticed a mild strobing or "herky-jerky" look to some of the footage involving lateral and frenetic movements after transferring to my NLE: Vegas 11 (yes, the footage shows the proper progressive flag in V11 and I rendered it out progressive as well). I have an upcoming shoot which will involve significant movement omni-directionally and I am curious if upping the shutter speed to 2X the frame rate (120fps) will eliminate this strobing issue. I've read this camera's proprietary 30F doesn't like over-cranking. I’d appreciate any insight from experienced Xl-H1 owners –thanks! As well, I’d like to adjust the viewfinder. Should I use the camera’s generated color and pluge bars as a reference for brightness/contrast? As the chroma/color adjustment is rather crude, is there a preferred method to somewhat accurately tune the viewfinder’s color? I have an inexpensive Lilliput 665 O/P - 7” LCD to which I am running component Y-Yb-Yr for 1080i viewing. Once I tweak the viewfinder I can match the 7” monitor within reason and know what I’m shooting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!! Steve |
