Krys, you're not supposed to do that! You've put real factual information into Area 51. It's only supposed to be un-reliable rumours, wild speculation, and off topic material.

And here you go pulling the whole thread back on track.

Oh man, if the rumors get substanaciated then where will this thread move to? Will there be a new camera's and beer section of the forum? Now I'm curious as to what's going to happen in 6 days...

Until then...

Not being from Texas I have never tried shiner bock (or shiner blonde) there is a beer that goron bierch puts out called marzen that's pretty good though. And I could never pass up a good (or bad for that matter) Heifeviezen.

I find it funny that after the original thread was removed from the cinematography.com forum, nobody in that forum jumped on it. If something like that happened here, there would be hell to pay. Perhaps over there they don't give credence to rumors. Either that or it's the biggest cover up since Watergate. I for one don't mind rumors (when posted in the proper forum of course). It provides me with a little entertainment.
Although, there is a new post over there talking about Canon's commitment to HDV. I sure hope that's not the case. Not a big HDV fan.

Actually it looks like others are reporting on it as well now too. After the initial flurry of the first "questionable" pics some of the other folks appear to have headed over to the Canon display and confirmed the black HDV camera. Of course that doesn't make it much more exciting too me. Until Canon actually gives some specs I can pretty much spray paint my Optura 30 black and stencil HDV on it and have my own show camera.

Sorry if this is old news already, but I didn't see an update on the status.

I would still say it is not official. Hope that changes soon, though! Here are my own latest opinions -- evolving like everyone else's -- thoughts on this:

Update on Neil Moreno's involvement with Canon.

Hey all-

Thanks for the boost of confidence... Sorry about the "cute thing" I was actually just getting excited that I have been able to substantiate some information and therefore try to turn fiction into fact =)

It seems that there is a real deal from all of the new posts and pictures out there but sadly I have not gotten a response from Neil's camp. Nothing, not even a **we can neither confirm nor deny this** type of stuff.

I guess you guys a right in that the fact he would have to had signed so many papers about not speaking a word and keeping this thing a secret, I tell ya I dont know if I could do that.. I forget that this is a bigger issue then I first thought. So with that respect I e-mailed him again noting that I understand his position and if and when he can speak about it to please visit dvinfo.net and chat with us, regardless what happens it would be interesting to hear what he has to say about it.....

Hopefully I will get a response after the Canon Show in NYC.

I'll keep you posted... By the way if I had my choice I would loose the beer cup and put a MAC lipstick/eye shadow station with flip-up mirror. This way I could flip the mirror around if I need some fill light on my subjects....;)

See form and function. The perfect camera

Don't worry Krys, our own Kennelmaster Chris Hurd is attending the Canon Expo and will definitely give us the news as soon as it's available.

Well that seals it. I double-checked at the Expo and no cup holder!

I guess it's back to holding my own cup.

I spoke to the company doing his PR and it seems that, Yes, Neil did direct a "commercial" but it was a test commercial for canon and will not be broadcast as such. It seems that they wanted someone who could really put the camera through it's paces and give further imput. I imagine it was a true test run for functinality and image quality for larger pruductions. It is speculated that the commercial will be part of a bigger marketing campaign. Other than that it's pretty tight-lipped. You would think NASA or the CIA had something to do with this camera......

Did anyone get the chance to use the camera at the show? Any imput?
