Recording HDMI output from Canon XL-H1?

I cannot find the specs for the video output on the XLH1 through the HDMI port.

Is it 4:2:2? What is the bit rate?

When I hook my camera to my large LCD screen, the picture from the HDMI port looks good, but not much better than the same scene recorded on tape and then played out the port. Is there compression of the sensor signal through HDMI?

Also, when I have the camera hooked up through the HDMI port, I see all the camera information that I see through the viewfinder. Will this also be recorded when I record off HDMI?

Appreciate any information on these questions.

Thanks.

The Canon XL H1(s)(a) doesn't have HDMI. It has HD-SDI.

The HD-SDI is uncompressed, 4:2:2, 1920x1080 at 1.485Gbps.

Hope this helps.
